GET STARTED IN GOLF

Get ready to discover a world where the calm of lush green fairways meets the excitement of a perfectly executed golf swing. So, ready to take up the challenge and tame the handling of golf?

Choose the right club and the right forsome

Quite wide and without too many obstacles, the Mont-Orford golf club is a good learning ground. Its hilly course will allow you to practice all types of shots while enjoying the view and its more wooded sections.

“A golf course is beautiful! You are outside, in large spaces, there are different textures and then you see far. Here we are lucky, we have a view of the mountain and the unevenness of the region”
shares Vincent who has also started playing on this same ground!

We therefore advise you to take a few short breaks and look into the distance, especially at hole #12, when you come out of the woods and the vast, green terrain unfolds before your eyes.

Pay particular attention when you cross #5 and #7, or at hole #15, once on the green, turn around, the mountain is right there!

A 9-hole course at golden hour

First of all, we advise to start with a 9-hole, you will meet enough challenges without getting too tired. It is also preferable to book a departure after 3 p.m., when the field is less busy. You will be quieter and moreover after 4:30 p.m., it is cheaper!

We also advise to ideally have at least one person at a certain level, this will help the fluidity of your game.

Do not hesitate to play according to the principle of the best ball (playing Vegas), which simply consists of bringing your ball to the best placed ball in your foursome.

And finally, Vincent is categorical on the question, to start well, you have to surround yourself well! By bringing together patient and indulgent people with whom you will enjoy spending a few hours in company, this will greatly facilitate your initiation.

Beginner's gear

Now is the time to bring out the old golf set lying around in your grandfather's shed! "There's nothing better than an 80s golf bag found in a garage sale to play your first shots" says Vincent, who as a teacher saw many first shots!

As a beginner, you can make do with a selection of basic equipment: a driver, irons 5 to 9, a wedge and a putter will be more than enough. After all, everything else is performance. To save you the hassle, you will find everything you need in our rental bags at the golf club shop.

Driver

The driver is a #1 wood, used from the tee to send the ball as far down the fairway as possible. It offers a combination of power and distance. It is recognized by its length and a larger and lighter head.

Iron

Irons feature a metal head and are numbered 1 through 9. The higher the number, the higher the angle of the head and the higher your ball will go, but less far. It's up to you to assess your distance from the green!

Putter

The putter is designed with a flat head and a face perpendicular to the path of the stroke. It is used to roll the ball over short distances with maximum precision when close to the hole (on the green).
